When I boot my HP Pavilion laptop up at least 60 minutes after I shut it down, I get a error called the “SMART Hard Disk Error” and it says “The SMART hard disk check has detected an imminent failure.” What could be the reason I got a SMART Hard Disk Error? Should I run the system diagnostics test and see what is wrong with my hard drive? It has a 500GB SSD.

To check the drive you have to follow these steps:
1) Press Esc key repeatedly, several times a second, while rebooting the laptop. Do NOT hold the key down, just press it over and over.
2) Eventually, you will see an HP Startup Menu
3) Press the Function key for testing the hard drive (usually F2) and let it run.
