HP Pavilion - 15z-cw100 CTO won't turn on

HP Pavilion 15z cw100 CTO won't boot up.  Tried different charger, removing battery and turning on, it will not power on and shows you indication of charging.  I have a battery and ac adapter on the way but I have a bad feeling it's the mother board.  Anyone run into this?

Hi@bs92787, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

We reviewed your post and I understand that the  Notebook is not Powering ON,

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps

Do you see a light at the place where the charger connects to the laptop? If yes then it indicates that the charger is all fine.

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.

F6 + Power Button

  • CMOS Rest ( combination of windows button and letter 'V' then push the power button ones and release the windows and letter 'V' after 5sec

If the laptop does not power on then please continue with the below steps:

  • Disconnect the charger and remove the battery out.
  • Connect only the battery and check if the laptop powers on.
  • Likewise, remove the battery out (if removal battery ) and connect only the charger and check if that helps.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

So I tried a completely new battery and AC adapter.  I also ordered a brand new laptop power supply that came today, installed it, there is NO light when plugging in an adapter.  It will not turn on when I tried CMOS reset (does this thing even have a CMOS battery?  I don't see one)?  I tried the CMOS reset, I've tried with the battery out and AC plugged in, I have tried with only the battery in, with the battery and AC in ,there is absolutely no power.  Also the power indicator where the AC adapter plugs into the power supply has no light indicator on the side of the laptop case....

I have a bad feeling this is mother board related or something else?  Any ideas?

Hi,

I am having the same issue. Have tried all the steps above, including a new battery and new charger. Nothing at all seems to have fixed the issue. I only purchased this laptop about a year ago for and the unfortunate thing is the warranty literally expired one month ago..

Same here..... I'm thinking about an out of warranty repair or buying a new board to see if that fixes it.  No power light with a new power supply, battery, and ac adapter tells me something on the board is not good

That would be great if they were available to purchase lol.  I have also already talked to HP support, $400 to fix it by HP (almost the price of a new PC), and they didn't even have it, so I was told you search online.
