Hello,
My HP Pavilion dv4-1400 laptop won't boot. It'll pass the POST but gets stuck on the loading screen.
I've already tried hard drive and memory diagnostics, which turned up negative results for any problems.
I think something might be wrong with the BCD as I can't access the Boot Menu or Advanced Boot Menu when I press F8 or ESC+F8 after I turn on the laptop.
To fix this, I want to go into the command line and rebuild the BCD. Is it possible to get the installation media for the operating system from HP or some other source?
Another possible course of action for me is downloading the OS, but in order to do that I need to know which version of Windows Vista was originally installed into the laptop. I can't find the specs for this model. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks

Hi @Anthony36
Your computer was shipped with Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit with Service Pack 1
You may also refer to this document - HP Notebook PCs - Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows Vista)
As this is an obsolete operating system, I'm afraid the Recovery Media is no longer available.
Hope this helps!
