Hi, Im having a similar problem.  My hp Pavilion g7-1075dx Notebook PC will not start.  When I power it on the fan runs for a second then quits and the only things that come on are the power button and the wireless button that looks like a cell tower (it only turns on orange though). Not even the caps lock or num lock buttons will work.  Im not sure if this is a display issue or something else.  Ive tried doing the hard reset and checking the memory but neither has worked.  Ive also tried using an external display.  I would really appreciate if anybody could help me out.

My laptop was doing the same thing as many mentioned above, it was all booting on, but the screen would stay black. After hours on Google, I finally came across the recommendation to remove both the battery and the AC adapter and to hold down the power button for 60 secs, and then that's where the instruction that I came across differ. At this point, the instructions I found said to plug in the AC adapter, BUT DO NOT REINSTALL THE BATTERY, LEAVE IT OUT. And it worked great. The only problem is, that any time I attempt to reconnect the battery, I end up back at square one and have to repeat the process all over. As long as I leave the battery out and just use the AC cord, everything runs just perfect.

Can anyone explain to me what would cause this? Is my battery just bad and needs to be replaced? This hasn't been an urgent issue for me because my house is what you would call computer poor, with a desktop, my husband's (unused) laptop, and various tablets, etc. But, I have a lot of my photography software for which I no longer have the disc for (Photoshop CS6 = $1k +) and other things and I would like to regain normal function of my laptop at some point.

Either way, whatever the solution is for me, I did want to share trying to boot the computer up w/o the battery as something to try bc so far, that has been the ONLY thing that has worked for me. Good luck!

I just found out I have 3 blink... So looks like memory is my issues. Do I just go to store to purchase the memory? Can I update to 64? Is that not worth the trouble?
