Pavilion x360
Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit)

After several months of inactivity, the HP Pavilion x360 notebook won't boot up. When turning on, all I get is a blue screen. If I hit a funtion key, I'll get a brief description of the key in the lower left hand side of the screen which remains there but nothing else happens. Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem. The laptop is virtually brand new.

Hi @Swampfox165,

I understand you are having trouble booting your HP Pavilion laptop, don't worry, though, as I have a few recommendations.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you made any software or hardware changes made on the PC?

Was any update/reset interrupted, recently?

When was the last time it worked (date)?

Does it come up with any error message on the screen?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard Reset

Attempt a Bios Recovery

Please go through the guided troubleshooter for - No Power or No Boot Troubleshooting - Click here

Run the system diagnostics test as well as extensive test on the Hard drive and Memory from F2 - Click here

For more details, please follow all the steps suggested in the support document - Click here

I hope this helps, let me know how it goes for further assistance, I'll be more than happy to help.

Following your instructions, after the bios update ran, it indicated that the battery was dead when doing the systems test. I've orfered a new battery confident that it will rersolve my problem.
