HP ProBook 440 G7 (Product Np. 8WC35UT#ABA)
HP USB-C docking station (5TW10AA#ABA)
Both NIB HP ProBook and dock.
Windows 10 build 20H2 x64
16GB DDR4
factory installed M.2 SSD, Bitlockered
When building this machine out:
kept the laptop on the dock to get 1Gb Ethernet connectivity
DL and installed all available Windows updates from Microsoft
installed HP Support Assistant to install all Genuine HP Drivers and software
User reports after disconnecting from the dock, the machine freezes after 10-15 seconds
No mouse, no keyboard, no trackpad, etc.
User must do an ungraceful shutdown. (holding the power button to recover)
Machine has no issues when connected to the dock.
Anyone know of a fix instead of a rebuild from scratch?
I had purchased 10 of these Probooks and docks. this is the first buildout and deployment of this machine for my office

UPDATE: Finally found the culprit.
it was a defective 8GB RAM stick.
DIMM slot 0 was populated with an 8GB stick from factory; added a 2nd 8GB stick to DIMM slot 1
This was a bit bizarre because the machine had zero issues when building it out when connected to the USB-C dock.
when the machine was deployed to hte user, the issues began with no rhyme or reason.
After removing the 2nd RAM stick, system became 100% stable.

Additional details:
User reports this symptom also occurs from a cold start when disconnected from the dock as well.
User enters the TPM PIN, logs into Windows, then about 10-15 seconds, system freezes.
issue is consistent and reproducible.
