I have a HP Spectre x360 Convertible PC 13 -- Model 13-4105dx.
All of the sudden I have not been able to power it back on. I have already perform the BIOS reset combinations key (F6->Power On) & Windows Key plus "V" and Power button -- NO Luck!
I had this occurrence twice (2) and it seems after many many attempts to hit the power button and with a bit of a luck few days after, I will see the light in the keyboard again light up and it will boot normally.
The battery is integrated and won't mess with unscrewing the back of the laptop to remove/disconnect it.
Question for HP Support: Is there a keyboard combination I can set to use as an alternative to power up my laptop rather then the conventional power button?
Thank you,
Pablo De La Cruz

Hi @pablony,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're dealing with a tricky power issue on your HP Spectre x360. Since you've already tried several reset combinations without success, and the laptop eventually boots up after multiple attempts, it could be related to the power button itself or a deeper hardware issue.
Unfortunately, there's no alternative keyboard combination that can permanently replace the conventional power button for turning on your HP Spectre x360. The power button is a hardware component that directly engages the system's power management, and there are no built-in keyboard alternatives designed for this specific function.
However, there are a few additional steps you can try to troubleshoot this issue:
1. Forced Reset/Hard Reset (Another Attempt):
- Disconnect all peripherals (USB devices, external storage, etc.).
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds (ignore any beeps or flashes that occur).
- After releasing the power button, plug the laptop into the charger and try powering it on again.
2. Try Powering On with AC Adapter Only:
- If possible, plug in the AC adapter and attempt to turn on the laptop without relying on the battery. Sometimes the power management system can get stuck, and using only AC power can help reset things.
3. Drain Static Electricity:
- Disconnect the charger.
- Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds (this helps to discharge any static electricity that might be interfering with power delivery).
- Release the power button, reconnect the charger, and try turning on the laptop again.
4. Check for BIOS or Hardware Diagnostics: HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
- On many HP devices, pressing F2 or Esc on startup can bring up diagnostic options. If your laptop responds to this, it can help identify any hardware faults.

I hope this helps.
