Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey there everyone.

 

Seasoned computer repairman here with a head scratcher. A clients X360 freezes during boot process. System also freezes during an HP Full System Test. Upon reboot it displays a overheat warning.

 

What would cause this machine to overheat during a Full System Test before it even boots into windows? It is NOT displaying a fan failure at any point, and the fan blades spin freely.

can you boot into safe mode at all? if not can you open powershell and do a sfc and dism scans for any corruption if thats not it or you can't get into anything, your best bet is going to be a complete reset of windows from a usb, if that doesn't work i'm guessing it could be the processer or ram failure that will need to be replaced.
