I have a HP Stream Laptop, when I try to power it on (starts off as a black screen), I hold down the power button and after about 10 seconds it flashes a white light at me (as if trying to turn on) makes a clicking noise, and then nothing happens. It just immediately goes back to black. The "power" button lights up on the side of the computer, but goes off the moment it turns black again. No other lights go on, nothing beeps. I tried looking the issue up on numerous websites but no ones can seem to identify the issue.
Your help is greatly appreciated

Hi @kta053,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Stream Laptop is experiencing some hardware or power-related issues. The fact that the power button lights up and then goes off after a brief attempt to start suggests that the laptop might be encountering a problem during the boot process.
Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.
Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the laptop from any external power source.
- Remove the battery (if it's removable) or disconnect the power adapter.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery or power adapter and try turning on the laptop.
Check Power Adapter and Connection:
- Ensure that your power adapter is working correctly. Check if the LED on the power adapter is on.
- Try a different power outlet or a different power adapter if available.
Remove External Devices:
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external hard drives, etc.) and try turning on the laptop.
Memory (RAM) Check:
- If your laptop has removable RAM, try reseating it. Remove and reinsert the RAM sticks carefully.
Boot into BIOS/UEFI:
- Try accessing the BIOS/UEFI by pressing the corresponding key (usually ESC, F1, F2, F10, or Del) during the startup.
- If you can access the BIOS/UEFI, check if the system recognizes your hardware components.
Boot from a Bootable USB:
- Create a bootable USB drive with an operating system (e.g., Windows) and attempt to boot from it. This can help determine if the issue is related to the installed operating system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
