My HP Victus has always crashed since new when it is plugged in. I updated the BIOS, and it seemed to improve a bit. I have also run the extensive tests without any result of problem.
When i work off the battery it has no issue, I also notice when i am doing something with graphic work it will lock up faster and BSOD.
I am at a loss as to the problem and how to solve it.

@NamSingh, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like your HP Victus is experiencing crashes when plugged in, especially during graphics-heavy tasks.
Power Settings or Power Supply Issue:
AC Power vs. Battery Power: Your laptop may be having trouble handling power delivery from the AC adapter, especially when the GPU or CPU is under load.
Go to Control Panel > Power Options and reset to default or choose Balanced power plan.
Disable fast startup under Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do (uncheck Turn on fast startup).
Graphics Driver Conflicts:
When using graphic-intensive apps, the GPU may be pushing harder and causing the system to crash, especially if drivers are outdated or conflicting.
Update GPU drivers from HP's website.
If you're using NVIDIA graphics, try downloading the latest GeForce Experience or NVIDIA drivers directly.
Rollback drivers: If the problem started after a specific update, try rolling back to a previous driver version.
Faulty AC Adapter or Battery:
Sometimes the AC adapter or charging port can be faulty, leading to power instability when plugged in.
Test with a different AC adapter if possible, to rule out any issues with the power supply.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi,
Have you managed to solve the problem? I have exactly the same issue with hp victus 16 rtx4070. Crashes, usually into bsod when ac power is plugged in. I reinstalled windows 11, two different versions, reinstalled all drivers twice. Still all the same. Bios updated also. No improvement visible.

Hi,
I am doing product return to exchange for a digferent unit. It is already registerd and will have a new one on Thrisday. I will perform all installations in line with offcial driver and see if the problem reappears.

Just to give an update - as there might be others experiencing similar issues.
Got a new unit, replaced. Everything works fine - nothing crashes, no bsods. Installed exactly the same way - newest W11 24H2 + BIOS update + original HP drivers. All settings at default, no changes in BIOS, or windows, no tweaking. Played now several hours without any issues, when with the previous one I could do 5 minutes tops until system crash.
It was clearly hardware issue, most likely motherboard related.
Therefore I stronly suggest anyone experiencing similar issues - go and replace the faulty unit.

That’s a great update, and your conclusion makes a lot of sense! Since the new HP Victus runs smoothly with the exact same setup, it was almost certainly a hardware issue, possibly motherboard-related, as you suspected.
Your advice is spot on—if someone else is experiencing BSOD crashes while plugged in but works fine on battery, replacing the unit is the best course of action.
Thanks for sharing your findings! It could save someone else a ton of frustration. 🚀

Sadly my machine is out of warranty, it has done the problem from day one. It's my fault for not reporting it and getting it fixed. Will just have to put up with working on battery only and charge when i logoff.

I hear you. It’s frustrating when an issue persists from day one but falls outside the warranty window. Hopefully, managing it by charging during logoff helps minimize the inconvenience.
Let me know if you ever want to explore potential fixes!

So, I have had a good improvement. I decided to order a new power supply and the laptop now charges and i managed to leave it running for at least 90 minutes before it gave a BSOD. Seem's it was a faulty adapter to start with. I'm not sure what the issue is, but it is much better for me.
