Hi @Dave892,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be an issue with your laptop's system processes or power settings causing it to freeze or behave oddly at midnight. Here are a few things you can try to fix this.

Check for Scheduled Tasks:

  • Some scheduled tasks might be running at midnight, causing the issue. To check:
    1. Open Task Scheduler (taskschd.msc).
    2. Look for any tasks set to run at midnight and disable them temporarily.

Review Power Settings:

  • It could be related to sleep or hibernation settings. You can adjust them as follows:
    1. Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep.
    2. Set Sleep to a longer time or disable sleep completely to see if the issue persists.

Check for System Updates:

  • Sometimes, issues like these are resolved through Windows updates.
    1. Go to Settings > Windows Update, and make sure your system is up to date.

Disable Fast Startup:

  • Fast startup can sometimes cause issues with devices. To disable it:
    1. Open Control Panel > Power Options.
    2. Click Choose what the power buttons do.
    3. Uncheck Turn on fast startup.

Check Event Viewer:

  • Check the Windows Event Viewer for any errors or warnings that could give insight into what's happening at midnight.
    1. Type Event Viewer in the Start menu search bar.
    2. Look under Windows Logs > System for any errors occurring around midnight.

Keyboard Driver Update:

  • The issue with the Enter key might be related to a faulty driver.
    1. Go to Device Manager and look for any issues with the keyboard driver.
    2. Right-click the keyboard device and select Update Driver.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
