  • Hi, my seldom used HP pavilion 15 cw0509sa will not power on.

 

a little about me - I know very little about computers, so all advise gratefully received but layman’s terms please.

 

what I know

-the ac adapter appears to work, and when plugged in the light there is on. 

- the power on button light periodically comes on every few seconds

-nothing happens if I try and hold the power button to force a reset

- I am unable to run any sort of diagnostics as I can’t get that far

- there is no removable battery

- I have not done any sort of changes/upgrades

- it has not been used in a few weeks so may have missed an update? 

Any advise would be a massive help as I cannot afford a new laptop or to get my info restored.

Forgot to add the light at the ac charger is red and the battery area is hot but no fan
