HP sold me a refurbished workstation as new
05-21-2021 11:26 AM - edited 05-21-2021 05:01 PM

I purchased a brand new laptop directly from HP's student store two days ago. I received my laptop today and tried to install Linux on it. The reboot was unsuccessful, as it required me to input a Intel password. Upon Googling and calling customer support, it was verified that this was a refurbished laptop. It simply isn't possible that I would need a password to install an operating system on a brand new laptop unless someone else had pre-owned it.

We here can, unfortunately, do nothing for you to fix this -- but I have notified the forum Moderators of this issue, and someone should be contacting you shortly via PM to sort this out.
I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor represent, HP
