Hard Drive/SSD SMART Check: FAILED

Failure details - Hard drive check:

 

IMPORTANT:

The test found a problem with your hard drive, and it may need to be replaced. If possible, back up your personal files to a flash drive or external hard drive as soon as you can.

If you want to install a larger capacity NVMe SSD you should be able to as the drive capacities listed in the service manual are normally only what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported.

 

My recommendations would be either the Samsung 980 (not 980 Pro). or the Western Digital Blue SN570.

 

After you replace the drive, you can use the HP cloud recovery tool and a 32 GB USB flash drive to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.

Since you will have to use the utility on another PC, you will need to enter your notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.
