Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

How can i format a drive on my laptop when all I have is a blue screen and unable to type?  I can get to all inernal promps but none help.

Is there a way i can format my harddrive being unable to type except for dos commands.  I downloaded and made a boot disk from Microsoft with windows 10 but nothing happend.  It was ignored.

You need to be able to boot from external media in order to do this -- and you will have to either make the media using another PC or purchase it online.

 

I recommend the use of a third-party tool known as Minitool Partition Wizard. This is a free partitioning tool and you should download their Boot CD ISO file to a local drive.

You can download the tool from here: https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html

You can get an ISO file from here: http://downloads.tomsguide.com/MiniTool-Partition-Wizard-Bootable-CD,0301-51034.html

Once you have this, you have a choice of media to create:
1) If you can boot from CD, download and install ImgBurn and use the Write Image to Disk option to create a bootable CD.
2) If you can boot from USB, download and install RUFUS and use the option to create a bootable USB stick from the ISO file.

Boot your PC with the media you created. You should now be able to do partition changes without problems.
