Everytime I turn on my laptop HP Diagnostic Window pops up. I can only remove it by using control alt delete. Sometimes it pops back up. I can't click on it but have to remove it every time. Do you have advice what this means and how to stop it from happening?

Hi @Jack702 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the HP Diagnostic Window popping up on your laptop every time you turn it on could be due to a few different reasons.
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue:
Check for Updates: Make sure your laptop's operating system (Windows 11) and HP software/drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated software can cause compatibility issues and unexpected behavior.
Disable Startup Programs: It's possible that the HP Diagnostic Window is set to launch at startup. You can disable this by managing startup programs:
- Right-click on the taskbar and select "Task Manager."
- Go to the "Startup" tab.
- Look for any HP-related entries and disable them by right-clicking and selecting "Disable."
Reinstall HP Support Assistant (if applicable): If the HP Diagnostic Window is associated with HP Support Assistant, you might want to try reinstalling it:
- Go to "Settings" > "Apps."
- Find "HP Support Assistant" in the list and click on it.
- Select "Uninstall" and follow the on-screen instructions.
- After uninstalling, restart your laptop.
- Download the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the HP website and reinstall it.
Check Task Scheduler: Sometimes, tasks scheduled in Task Scheduler can cause unwanted programs to run at startup. You can check and disable any tasks related to HP diagnostics:
- Type "Task Scheduler" in the Windows search bar and open it.
- Navigate to "Task Scheduler Library" > "Hewlett-Packard" (or similar) and look for any diagnostic tasks.
- If you find any, right-click on them and select "Disable."
Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM: Corrupted system files can also cause issues. You can try running SFC and DISM scans to repair any corrupted files:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Run the command: sfc /scannow
- After SFC completes, run the following command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Check for Malware: It's possible that malware or viruses could be causing the HP Diagnostic Window to pop up. Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or any other reputable antivirus software to check for any infections.
