Hello I am trying to recover pictures and be able to use this laptop. It loads up and asks to select a hard disk driver or load one from the files but not sure what to click and wasnt sure if the system recovery will keep the pictures if i do that.

A system recovery attempted when the drive is failing, which is what these messages indicate, will almost certainly end in failure with a corrupted computer that will not even turn on.
Bluescreen failures (i.e., BSODs) are notoriously difficult to diagnose and to fix -- far beyond what WE typically can do in this self-help Community.
IF the drive has failed, there is nothing you can do to fix it.
As you continue to use the drive, you're overwriting the files and folders that got erased. The more you use it, the less likely you'll be able to recover anything on it.
All you will be able to recover at best from the drive is personal data. You will not be able to recover settings, website information (including user accounts and passwords) or applications.
You will also need another drive large enough to hold the files and folders you want to recover because you can't recover them to the old drive.
The problem is every time you use the computer, it writes files to the drives and over time, it will overwrite ALL these files, since they are now marked as free space. So, even with good software, file recovery is not guaranteed.
You will also need to remove the drive and connect it to a working PC -- to stop Windows from overwriting the file space.
You will have to BUY file recovery software, as there are no Free versions that are any good. The best tool out there is this one, but only the demo version is free:

Good Luck
