Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your HP laptop is stuck on a blue screen with the message “It didn’t start up correctly.” Let’s walk through a few steps to help you get it working again.

Use Startup Repair

If you're seeing the blue screen with recovery options:

  • Click Advanced options > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
  • Let Windows attempt to fix startup issues automatically.

Boot into Safe Mode

If Startup Repair doesn’t work:

  • Go to Advanced options > Startup Settings > Click Restart.
  • After restart, press F4 to boot into Safe Mode.
  • Once in Safe Mode, uninstall any recent updates or drivers that may have caused the issue.

Perform System Restore

If Safe Mode works:

  • Go to Advanced options > System Restore.
  • Choose a restore point before the issue started.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

To rule out hardware issues:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Press Esc repeatedly while turning it on, then press F2 for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run System Tests and Hard Drive Tests.

Reset the PC (if nothing else works)

If all else fails:

  • Go to Advanced options > Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  • Choose Keep my files (recommended) or Remove everything.

Additional Tips

  • If you recently installed a Windows update or driver, that could be the cause.
  • Make sure your laptop is plugged in during all recovery steps.
  • If you can't access recovery options, you may need to create a Windows 11 recovery USB using another PC.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
