HP Pavilion Gaming 15-dk10000 Laptop PC (8VD49AV)

Hi I have an hp pavilion gaming 15 laptop, i5 10th gen Gtx 1650. My laptop was experiencing BSOD but when I run hardware scan no problem occur. So i thought it is an windows issue, do I tried to reinstall windows. But my windows installation got stuck on boot.  So I went to a local repair shop. Person installed new windows. and my laptop was working fine. But I discovered, My laptop serial number is changed. the person said he has replaced bios chip from a similar donar board.  and my system had windows 10 pro installed, but it came with a windows home.  He also mentioned there was an issue with 3.3 volt power supply on the board.

Other issues i was facing earlier that my battery was not charging, it was always on percent when my laptop is plugged in.

after reaching home i used my laptop it was working fine. But it wont boot next day. It is always stuck on hp logo and not boot any device be it pendrive or cd or hdd.

Hi @nisind

Welcome to the HP support community.

It sounds like your HP Pavilion Gaming laptop is experiencing multiple issues, especially after the BIOS chip replacement and Windows installation. Here’s a structured approach to troubleshooting the problem:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Power Off: Turn off the laptop completely.
  2. Disconnect Power: Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
  3. Drain Residual Power: Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
  4. Reconnect Power: Reinstall the battery and plug in the charger, then try to power on the laptop.

2. Check Boot Order in BIOS

  1. Access BIOS: Turn on the laptop and immediately press Esc or F10 repeatedly until the BIOS menu appears.
  2. Check Boot Order: Ensure that your primary boot device (HDD/SSD or USB if using a bootable drive) is set correctly in the boot order.
  3. Restore Defaults: If necessary, you can reset BIOS settings to default.

3. Try Booting from a USB Drive

  1. Create a Bootable USB: Use another computer to create a bootable USB drive with Windows installation media.
  2. Boot from USB: Insert the USB drive, access the BIOS again, and set the USB drive as the primary boot device.
  3. Install Windows: If it boots from the USB, proceed with a clean installation of Windows.

4. Inspect Hardware Connections

  • Since there was a mention of a power supply issue and BIOS chip replacement, it's essential to ensure that all internal connections (RAM, HDD/SSD, etc.) are secure.
  • If you're comfortable, open the laptop and reseat these components.

5. Check the Battery and Charging Issues

  • If the battery was not charging earlier, it may need replacement. Test the laptop with the charger connected to see if it powers on without the battery.
  • If the laptop works fine without the battery, the battery might be faulty.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I gave laptop to nearby hp service center, they said there is issue with motherboard.

so i gave my laptop to local guy who earlier fixed my laptop, he atleast get my laptop running.

He replaced bios chip , my laptop serial number is different now. I checked new serial number on HP website, that laptop is similar with same processor and gpu but different series.  I think may be that is creating an issue.

I did not had my laptop with me so I didnot reply. I still donot have my laptop with me.
