When power button is pressed all the normal lights come on but the screen displays nothing but lights up

Immediately after powering on start tapping the Esc key. This will open a menu where F2 System Diagnostics is an option. Tap F2 key and run the tests.

If you do not have F2 System Diagnostics- Enter BIOS setup by tapping/holding the F10 key immediately after powering on the laptop.Use Diagnostics to test your hard drive and memory
