Hello,
my laptop passes all internal hardware checks, I’ve tried resetting the bios to default settings, and running an external windows installation on a usb stick to factory reset the device, nothing works. Not sure what else to try.
there’s no ssd being show in the location for installation for windows on the usb? Why is this?
some additional info: I recently replaced the touch screen panel.

Hi @MarkeA1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
A hard reset or forced reset can often resolve system issues by clearing all information in the computer's memory and reestablishing the connections between the BIOS and hardware.
Steps to perform a hard reset:
- Turn off the computer.
- Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
- Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
- Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
- Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to drain residual power.
- Plug the AC adapter back into the computer, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.
- Press the power button to turn on the computer.
- If a startup menu appears, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, and then press the Enter key.
- After reconnecting each of the peripheral devices, run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all device drivers.
2. Check the SSD Connection
Since the SSD is not being recognized, it’s necessary to check for any loose connections or issues with the SSD itself. Here are detailed steps:
Steps to reseat the SSD:
- Turn off the computer and unplug the AC adapter.
- Open the service door or bottom cover of your HP Pavilion x360.
- Locate the SSD and ensure it is securely connected.
- If possible, try disconnecting and reconnecting the SSD to ensure a solid connection.
- Close the service door or bottom cover.
3. Clear CMOS
Sometimes clearing the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) can resolve issues at the hardware level.
Steps to clear CMOS:
- Turn off the computer and disconnect the AC adapter and any peripheral devices.
- Open the service door and locate the CMOS battery on the system board.
- Remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes and then reinsert it.
- Close the service door and reconnect the battery and AC adapter.
4. Boot into Safe Mode
Booting into Safe Mode can help identify any driver or software conflicts.
Steps to boot in Safe Mode:
- Turn off the computer.
- Turn it back on and press the F8 key repeatedly as the computer loads to display the Advanced Boot Options menu.
- Select Safe Mode using the arrow keys and press Enter.
I hope this helps.
