Hi @Capree,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Hello, and thank you for reaching out to HP Support. We're here to help you regain access to your HP laptop. Since you've forgotten your password and don’t have a reset disk, let’s explore a few options based on the version of Windows your HP laptop is running.

Option 1: If You're Using a Microsoft Account (Windows 10/11)

Most Windows laptops now use a Microsoft account to sign in. If that's the case:

  1. Go to Recover your account on your Samsung laptop.
  2. Follow the steps to reset your Microsoft account password.
  3. Once reset, return to your HP laptop and log in using the new password.

Option 2: If You're Using a Local Account (No Microsoft Account)

If your HP laptop uses a local account (no email used for login), and you don’t have a password reset disk, your options are limited without recovery tools.

Try this:

  1. Restart your HP laptop and on the sign-in screen, hold Shift and click Restart.
  2. This will boot into Windows Recovery Environment.
  3. Select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  4. Choose Keep my files (if you want to keep your data) or Remove everything.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
