I just bought the HP Laptop 15s-fq5005np with FreeDos. I am trying to install windows 10 from CD/DVD ROM USB, but I can't configure the Boot menu so that it reconizes the drive. After changing the boot device order, the computer continues to boot from the hard drive, ignoring the USB CD/DVD drive. Did someone have this problem? How it can be solved?
Thank you

Hi:
I'm not sure you can boot from a DVD drive anymore on these new notebooks.
The only suggestion I can offer would be to go into the BIOS and disable secure boot and save the setting.
Then to boot from the USB DVD drive, restart the PC.
Immediately press/tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.
Select the F9 boot options menu and from that, select the USB DVD drive and press the enter key.
If that doesn't work, use the Media creation tool from the link below to create a bootable USB W10 installation flash drive, and boot from that instead.
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
There will be another hurdle if you can get past the first one.
There are no storage controller drivers for the Intel 12th generation core processors.
When you get to the screen where Windows can't find a drive to install on, load the storage controller drivers that I zipped up and attached below that you install using the 'Load driver' option.
Then, there is one more river to cross...Your notebook is not supported by HP for W10, and there are no W10 drivers available on the support page.

So, after you connect to the internet, take the free upgrade to W11 by clicking on the blue W11 installation assistant button at the link below (1st option).
Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)
Then you can install the W11 drivers and available software from your notebooks' support page.
