HP EliteBook 8560p
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

We've got an issue with BIOS passwords.
The notebook HP EliteBook 8560p (LQ589AW/4CZ14003V9) has not been in use for a couple months.
After that user is unable to unlock BIOS during booting process - it says incorrect password. User is sure that nobody has tought this notebook during this couple months and he did not forget password.
After that Administrator tryed to unlock BIOS with Admin password and "BIOS Administrator" password. No chance.
It seems like hardware bug.
Are there any way/procedure to unlock o reset BIOS?

Contact HP and they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

 Phone >> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html

Chat >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request.

Or download these files.

Insert clean USB flash drive.

Then run USB Image tool.

Choose the flash drive then click on RESTORE.

After restore remove flash drive.

Insert flash drive into locked laptop and boot. ”If HDD is installed remove before booting.”

At C:\OUTPUT   type CD..   “Then hit enter”

Type HPBR   “Then hit enter”

First thing is to save your settings.

Select #3 re-program.

Press “S” to save system information.

Type HPBR and hit enter.

Select   “FIRST RUN”

Then select model.

After reboot repeat same as above but this time SELECT “SECOND RUN”

Hi,

Since your PC is a buisness notebook there is no master password which will unlock the PC. You need to contact HP directly and ask for SMC.bin file to unlock the computer. They will also send instructions how to use file to unlock the PC. Ask the support agent to escalate your request.
