HP Notebook - 15-da0008na

Hi everyone. I have a HP 15-DA0008NA laptop which suits my purposes. With the exception, infortunately, without an integral optical drive. But that's another story. Over the past few weeks it's become almost impossible to switch on first thing in the morning. I can push the pwer button many, many times over a period of 10 to 15 minutes before anything happens. During the day it works fine. Whether I powerdown, or just close the lid, it'll come back on without issue. However, should I just close the lid, or power down at the end of the day, it just will not power up the following morning. I fitted a SSD some time ago and I've done all the usual things recommended on the website and run HP Support Assistant and nothing. I feel ready to put it in the bin but, before I do so, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Your 15-DA0008NA is an older system but you might see if cloud recovery is still available.

See what the sleep and energy report says about your laptop.

Click here for HP's official list of hardware tests.

UEFI warranty test: Check to see if there is a hardware problem: Watch this video.

Tap the ESC key after powering on. Tap it once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash. When you see the startup menu, press F2 to run diagnostics.

If a component fails during the UEFI test then Click here to check warranty

If the component is not tested then possibly it is in the updated version of UEFI diagnostics

HP releases newer UEFI diagnostics periodically.
When you select F2 during boot you are requesting UEFI diagnostics.
There is an updated diagnostics package Click Here
Look for the phrase 'issues outside the OS',
Click the DOWNLOAD button.
The version of the UEFI diagnostics is shown at the left of that DOWNLOAD button.
When you press F2 to run diagnostics please ensure the version is the new one.

If no failure then windows drivers or file corruption could be the problem.

Holding down the power on button for 20 full seconds does a hard reset and should work.  if it starts "after a while" perhaps something has to cool off.  Open it up and give it a good cleaning with an air duster.

If your new SSD is not one of the ones listed in the software and drivers for your laptop, see if one of the SSD firmware updates below helps.

There may be firmware updates for your SSD. First find out what type of SSD you have.

Using the windows command prompt, please run the following command and report back what it reveals if you want help.

wmic diskdrive get model, size, mediaType, status

for example

Samsung and other SSD manufacturers may have a firmware update to their SSD.

If a Samsung SSD (for example) then select Samsung, look for firmware update ( 970 EVO) , download the update and install Samsung Magician to do the update.

Let me know what you find out.

Hi. Just to let you know I've been unable to get a peep out of the laptop, Therefore unable to carry out any tests. I suspect the mainboard my be faulty so have been looking for a replacement on EBay and go from there.
