My laptop doesn't start anymore.  First it charged until 17% and now nothing happens anymore. Even I try to charge. Only a small light blinks next to the charger point.

Hi @Maarten118,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

Does the blinking light follow a pattern (for example, slow or fast blinks, or a sequence like 3 blinks, pause, repeat)?

When you press the power button, do you hear anything a fan spin, a click, or any keyboard backlight flash?

Have you recently noticed the battery draining unusually fast before this happened?

While you check that, here are a few steps you can try that often help with HP laptops showing this behaviour:

  • Try a hard reset
Disconnect the charger, then press and hold the power button for about 15–20 seconds. After that, reconnect the charger and try powering it on again.
  • Check the charger and port
Make sure the charger is firmly connected on both ends. If you have access to another compatible HP charger, testing with it can rule out a faulty adapter.
  • Remove external devices
Unplug USB drives, peripherals, or accessories. Sometimes a faulty device can block startup.
  • Look up the blink code
HP laptops often use blinking lights to indicate specific hardware issues (battery, RAM, motherboard, etc.). If you can describe the blink pattern, I can help interpret it.
  • Try charging for a longer period
If the battery dropped too low, it may need 20–30 minutes before the laptop reacts again.

I hope this helps.
