Hello, I own this laptop since 2019, fan has been replaced after faulty fan came up in 2020/21. It has been used extensively and was always stable and working order. Disk SSD and NVME (Both Crucial)  were upgraded and RAM as well to 32gb (Crucial compatible model). I did not have any issues for very long time and has been working fine. I used for University work as Illustrator, and i used also for gaming low-mid tier games that are not demanding.

I recently started having issues in early March, initially I suspected the GPU/CPU problem with overheating and applied thermal paste. Temperature stays stable between 50 Celsius to 60 Celsius, sometimes 70 Celsius but not higher than that during gaming. I started having weird glitch/artifacts black white rapid lines shifting in middle of gaming.

Therefore I assumed it would be GPU/CPU overheating. Added paste and thought it solved. No. Next day after seemingly 5 hr playthrought to test if it fixed, it still reverted back to glitch mess.

Mind you,  I checked using CPUID HWMonitor app to see any spikes of temp before laptop started act weird.  Temp were normal standard around 60 Celsius.

Other issues I thought it could be RAM issue, however upon multiple diagnostic , including HP diagnostic hardware says that RAM has no error nor issues.

Laptop already had like 5th or 6th time of artifacting screen during gaming. My another suspect is Graphics, however did not make sense as low tier game is compatible and works and it is reduced graphics to play with it.

What happens after artifacting? laptop is causing BIOS setup , and telling me BIOS is Corrupted and will not start without USB. Okay, I have done it, it booted and opened my page, again another artifacting in mid gaming, and each time this occurs, it gets worse. There some times that took long to boot, CMOS is invalid ( 500, or 502) , corrupted BIOS, Etc.

I have done hard reset and it makes rather worse , longer time booting, errors occasional, and if it boots up and shows my wallpaper finally opening, there is still issues and errors and screaming about corrupted bios.

I have done the battery, bios setup, hard reset different ways, etc. Diagnostics shows hardware is in good state, the drivers are updated and up to date, no other issues. So far this leads me to firmware or software issues.

When I had issue with laptop forced update, it was stuck in loop and I had it to sent to repair services to recover data.

My laptop was back then sent to repair service and they unfortunately without my consent , updated from win 10 to win 11. Therefore it is stuck with win 11 pro. ( between 2023 or 2024) I want to make bootable USB drive correctly but so far, I see no options for this version of OS.

Here is my current specs of this laptop:

Device name LAPTOP-F8VVLAN
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-8145U CPU @ 2.10GHz (2.30 GHz)
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)
Device ID B171E475-5AA0-4EB4-80BC-9F9C2455BE22
Product ID 00330-80000-00000-AA731

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 25H2
Installed on ‎04/‎03/‎2025
OS build 26200.7840
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.291.0

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch Pen support

BIOS revision: F.19

Main battery has not been replaced since 2019 and HP diagnostics claims battery is ok. Battery is charging and not swollen.

Touch Screen is disabled, update and other settings are set manual. Laptop gets manually cleaned disk, disks are healthy and in up to date. Lags are very minimal unless task intensive.

The games I played were Sims 4 for 7 hrs and no issue for many months, I play recently the steam game Dont starve together and I started having issues with DST. However I do not believe DST is culprit but I believe it may have stirred up the issues. I have not yet used recently a lot of this laptop to know if it is outside game issues as I do not want to cause another artifacting and having to boot it again and taking another waste of stress of my life.

Please give me an advice and what are next steps?

EDIT: I have forgotten to include that according to Event Viewer and Logs, I see multiple warnings and errors regarding to this system and recovery, multiple failures as well.

HP is removing cloud recovery for system over 5 years old.
The actual wording is a limited time after the warranty expires
You may want to get a copy of the cloud recovery before it is too late.
Cloud recovery provides all the custom HP drivers.
Go here and enter your product ID including the 3 characters after the # character
If you have cloud recovery you can restore your system using a 64gb flash.
It may take an hour or more to create the recovery USB.
Alternately, download from the MS windows store

Many commercial or "business" laptops have an alternate recovery tool different from that cloud.

If this is a commercial or business PC then please provide your product ID or the exact Model.

If your PC came with windows 10 then it is likely the factory restore will be windows 10.

Hello, my laptop arrived in 2019 as Win 10 and has been until update few years later and have not reverted since due to how complicated it looked to me. I wish i did that when i was installing new disk.

My laptop is commercial, here are details:

product number: REDACTED

edit: According to the link it says it is supported.

You have the latest bios.

If you do a cloud restore it will probably be windows 10.

If 10 works OK then just to an inplace upgrade to windows 11.  This keeps the windows 10 drivers.  ie:  you put the USB with win11 and use windows 10 file manager to find and run "setup.exe"

If you replace the SSD (NVME?) then possibly there is a firmware update for the SSD.

Hello, again, i did install Cloud Recovery HP app and have prepared usb for it. After clicking next, it shows that "Authentication is invalid or expired. Please update HP cloud Recovery Tool to lastest version."

Edit: I made image copy of my laptop, I have all data saved and stored in SSD T7 Samsung.

My usb is ready as it has 64gb free space, waiting to be used.

The recommended app Cloud Recovery still does not work and still shows me the message of invalid authentication. Please recommend the next step.

See if this post by Paul helps

I am getting 504 gateway timeouts on many HP support pages.  Maybe there is a network problem (or a DOS ???)

Hello again.

Paul's post did finally work and i was able to get into USB part for the recovery media, however after waiting 5-10 min of gruelling progress 0.00, I did get final information that it has failed three times and could not download the image. I keep getting error. I have had made sure USB stick has 64gb, the firewall has been down and internet connection has been stable. I even made sure to swap USB port too.

This is the message i receive.

I do not have access to other computer to do test.

I still need ISO image for recovery and fixing the corrupted bios.

Hello,

I still have tried again and it still doesn't work. i cannot get the recovery file as i still get the error.

See if you can use a system that is hardwired such as a library PC.

Try an ethernet cable connected to router directly instead of Wi-Fi

I had two 504 timeouts earlier and also had trouble with the 26.4 iPhone update but it did update on the second try (the phone).

Possible DDOS problems

--and--

In the last 2 weeks (since the Iran problem) I have received a dozen text messages and emails claiming someone is attempting to transfer my bitcoins and asking me to confirm the transfer by clicking a link.  I have no bitcoins.
