Hi @bandhavi2101986,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that your HP Laptop is having trouble booting up. There could be several reasons for this issue. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to identify and hopefully resolve the problem:
Check Power and Connections:
- Make sure the laptop is properly plugged into a power source.
- Ensure that the power adapter is working and properly connected to both the laptop and the power outlet.
- If you're using a removable battery, ensure it's properly inserted.
Try a Power Reset:
- Disconnect the laptop from the power source.
- If the battery is removable, remove it.
- Hold down the power button for about 15-20 seconds. This discharges any residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter.
- Try turning the laptop on again.
External Devices and Peripherals:
- Disconnect all external devices such as USB drives, printers, external monitors, etc.
- Sometimes a faulty peripheral can prevent the laptop from booting.
Check for Display Issues:
- Sometimes the laptop might be booting, but the display might not be working. Try connecting the laptop to an external monitor or TV to see if you get a display there.
Check for Signs of Life:
- When you try to turn on the laptop, do you hear any sounds like fans spinning, hard drive activity, or any lights turning on?
Hardware Disconnect:
- If you're comfortable opening up the laptop, you can try disconnecting and reconnecting the RAM modules and the storage drive. Sometimes loose connections can cause booting issues.
Safe Mode or BIOS:
- Try booting the laptop into Safe Mode by repeatedly pressing the F8 or F12 key (or another key depending on your laptop model) immediately after powering on.
- If you can access the BIOS (UEFI) settings, check if the hard drive or SSD is recognized. If not, it could be a drive issue.
Reseating RAM:
- If you're comfortable, try reseating the RAM modules. Sometimes, a loose RAM module can prevent the laptop from booting.
Software Issues:
- If the laptop starts but doesn't boot into Windows, you might be dealing with a software issue. In this case, you could try booting into Safe Mode to troubleshoot further.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
