And, it's probably not going to -- turn on. Why? Because some models simply will no longer start up with a dead battery even when connected to a charger. I have one of those models -- but HP does not provide a list of such models, so we can't tell you if yours is also one of them.
In my case, I bought a new battery, swapped it into the laptop, rebooted the laptop, swapped back in the old battery -- and charged it.
