Bought an HP Omnibook Ultra 14 laptop and when windows goes to sleep, the monitor doesn't stay in stand by as it used to do with my Desktop.

When Windows goes to sleep, the monitor goes on stand by for a couple of seconds than it powers up back and tries to get a signal from the Display Port and goes to stand by again. It loops like this constantly instead of staying in stand by.

Normally the monitor would stay in stand by as long as Windows is in sleeping state.

Laptop is connected via USB C on Laptop to Display Port on Monitor.

Anyone ran into this ? Any fix ?

Hi @mokolp3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Check Power and Sleep Settings

  • Adjust power settings on your laptop:
    • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
    • Ensure that the sleep settings are correctly configured for both screen and PC.
    • Set the Sleep and Display times to your preferred intervals.
    • Under Additional power settings, select Change plan settings next to your current plan and adjust the Put the computer to sleep setting.

2. Disable Wake Timers

  • Prevent devices from waking the computer:
    • Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
    • Click on Change plan settings next to your selected power plan.
    • Select Change advanced power settings.
    • Expand the Sleep settings and disable Allow wake timers.

3. Check Device Manager for Display Settings

  • Adjust properties of display devices:
    • Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
    • Expand Display adapters and Monitors.
    • Right-click on each device and select Properties.
    • Go to the Power Management tab and ensure that Allow this device to wake the computer is unchecked.

4. Update Drivers

  • Ensure that display drivers are up-to-date:
    • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest graphic and display drivers for your HP Omnibook Ultra 14.
    • Install the drivers and restart your laptop.

5. Check BIOS Settings

  • Ensure BIOS settings are correct:
    • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, or ESC during boot).
    • Look for power management settings and ensure that Wake on LAN or Wake on USB is not enabled unless necessary.

I hope this helps.
