Hi,
My girlfriend's Envy x360 is refusing to boot.
Here's what I know:
- The laptop was working just fine last night. I watched a video, and then closed the lid to put it to sleep (did not shut down), when I went to sleep. Meaning it was last left in a sleep state, as far as I am aware.
- I manually updated the BIOS in the last few weeks, and have had no issues. This was to fix the laptop from not being able to go to sleep. Which did fix the issue, by the way.
At the moment, if I try to turn the laptop on from a visibly off state, the power light turns straight on to a solid white, and stays on. The charging, caps, and numlock lights all stay off, for the whole time that I leave it on. The fans make no noise whatsoever, and neither does the storage drive, as it's an SSD. The screen stays true black the entire time.
As a side note, if I try to turn the laptop off from while the power light is on; I have to hold the power button for about 10 seconds, at that point the power light turns off briefly, then back on briefly, and then off again. The light remains off after this point.
Here's what I've tried:
- Power reset, as per the HP non-removable battery instructions (basically unplug everything, and hold power button for 15 secs)
- Holding Windows Key + V / B and pressing the power button for 2-3 secs to attempt a BIOS reset/recovery.
- Turning the laptop on/off multiple times.
I am currently leaving the laptop in the state where the power light remains on, in an attempt to drain the battery (which I can't remove because of warranty). As this has fixed issues with my Dell laptop before.
In the meantime, I appreciate any suggestions and/or insight.
Thank you. 🙂
