I had a problem where my laptop wouldn't load past the buffering circle after the Hp logo. And after many restarts it started working fine, except every time I open my laptop it will go to my login page and it won't let me type in my password. from there I would have to restart the laptop and then it would show up like it normally should... However the black screen with the buffering circle came back and I have tried to fix it myself using the forums and it seems to have made it worse... Now after the buffering circle, the screen goes black and no amount of waiting is changing that, please help me!

P.s my warranty has ran out, I have no disc for recovery and rescue and I have tried hard reseting it (taking battery out and holding the power button on the laptop) and still nothing... I have tried system restore but there is nothing I can do, tried reseting and refreshing my laptop but it won't let me do that either...

Hi @Bronti97,

Thank you for showing your interest in the HP Forums,

I'd like to help 🙂

As I understand you are having issues with the laptop won't boot stuck after HP logo screen. Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,

Let's try these steps:

Hard reset on the Notebook

Attempt a Bios Recovery

you could attempt to access the safe mode: Click here for details.

The only other steps to resolve the issue would be to:

Some HP Notebook PCs come with two sticks of memory and have two memory slots. If you experience a black screen or blue screen with HP logo, the problem could be with one of the sticks of memory or with one of the memory slots.

To determine what is causing the failure, try to isolate the problem by:

Performing a memory self-test

Checking for loose memory modules

Testing the memory modules

Testing the memory slots

For more step, click here

Let me know how it goes. I'll be more than happy to help you.

Unfortunately none of this worked... I'm just running a memory extensive test on system diagnostics (hitting esc then F2) it's going to take over an hour to complete but what else can I do if this shows up as a pass?

Hi @Bronti97,

Thanks for replying.

As I understand you have tried the steps suggested and nothing worked, let's wait for the memory test to complete. Depending on the test results, If the test passes, I would suggest you to perform a system recovery using the partition. Doing this will wipe off everything from the computer and set it back to the original factory conditions. If this option does not work this could be an issue with the system file is missing or corrupted.

The only other way to install Windows would be to order the recovery media for your laptop and using the recovery media you can install Windows. You can check if the recovery media is available online on www.hp.com/drivers by entering the exact model no. of your laptop. To find the exact model no. click here: http://hp.care/2bygf7l

Otherwise, you could also reach HP phone support to order the recovery media. Please fill out an online form on www.hp.com/contacthp to reach phone support.  Let me know if you need any further assistance.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further assistance.
