Drop down menu doesn't show my Device. I'm working with a HP Pavilion Laptop 16-ag0xxx. Hoping someone can help before I reach out to HP. In the last two days, my laptop has been refusing to startup immediately. Example: if I leave laptop running and the screen goes to sleep, I'm unable to wake it up without pressing the power button several times and holding it down for about 15 seconds. Then I closed the laptop at the wallpaper screen last night and when I went to open the cover, the cursor was there but could not move it so I shut down and then had to go through the same hold the power button down. I've ran diagnostics from the HP site for software and hardware. Any idea what is happening?

Hi @grammyjanice200,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue with your HP Pavilion Laptop. Based on your description, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try before reaching out to HP support:

Force Restart: Since you're already pressing the power button, make sure to hold it down for about 15 seconds. This will completely shut down your laptop and help clear any temporary glitches.

Hard Reset: Disconnect all external devices, remove the power adapter, and if possible, remove the battery. Hold the power button for 15-20 seconds, then reconnect the battery and power adapter and try to turn on the laptop.

Check Power Source and Connections: Ensure your laptop is well connected to a power source and check if the charging indicator lights up when plugged in.

BIOS/UEFI Settings Reset: If you can access the BIOS/UEFI settings by pressing a specific key like F2, F10, or Esc immediately after starting your laptop, you might try resetting the BIOS to its default settings.

Safe Mode: If you manage to power on the laptop, try booting it in Safe Mode to see if the problem is software-related. You can do this by pressing F8 repeatedly as the laptop starts up.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
