Hi @SB5400,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. Are you using a local account or a Microsoft account to sign in?
  2. What exactly is the message asking regarding the USB flash drive? Is it asking you to create a password reset disk, or is it asking to recover the account?
  3. Which version of Windows are you running?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can consider:

1. If it’s a Microsoft account:

  • You can reset your password online from another device here via logging into microsoft account
  • Once reset, use the new password to sign in to your HP computer.

2. If it’s a local account:

  • Windows sometimes requires a password reset USB drive that was created previously.
  • If you don’t have one, you may need to boot into Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and use the Reset this PC option. Be aware that this can result in loss of data if you choose to fully reset.

3. Try other sign-in options:

  • If Windows offers a PIN, picture password, or fingerprint, check if you can log in using any of those alternatives.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!
