I have what looks like a message icon in the lower left of my screen when I power on the notebook. How do I get to these messages?Icon in lower left corner

Looks like you have a default email address on your machine. Please simply double click the envelope icon to access your inbox.

Thank you, but that does not help.
Double-clicking on it does nothing, other than freeze up the machine to the point that I have to Cntrl-Alt-Del to get to the logon password entry screen.
I went ahead and comfirmed several times over. Hard clicks, soft clicks. Fast and slow.. and long clicks. Same result.
