@TG1989, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
The error message you're seeing "The Boot Configuration Data file is missing required information" typically indicates a problem with the boot configuration on your HP notebook. This can happen due to corrupted system files, a failed update, or changes in BIOS/UEFI settings.
Step 1: Perform Automatic Repair
- Turn off your notebook.
- Power it on and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F11 to open System Recovery.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.
- Let Windows attempt to fix the issue automatically.
Step 2: Rebuild the Boot Configuration Data (BCD)
If Startup Repair doesn’t work:
- Boot into Advanced Options again (via F11).
- Select Command Prompt.
- In the Command Prompt window, type the following commands one by one and press Enter after each:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd - Restart your notebook.
Step 3: Check BIOS Settings
- Restart the notebook and press Esc, then F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
- Go to the System Configuration tab.
- Ensure Legacy Support is disabled and Secure Boot is enabled (for UEFI systems).
- Save changes and exit.
