Hi @Leah1807,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When you force restart your HP laptop, whether your Chrome tabs will reopen depends on your Chrome settings and how the shutdown occurs.
By default, Google Chrome is set to reopen the tabs that were open when it was last closed. However, there are a few conditions.
- Chrome Settings: Ensure that Chrome is set to "Continue where you left off." You can check this by going to Chrome Settings > On startup > Continue where you left off.
- Crash Recovery: Chrome has a built-in feature that can recover tabs after an unexpected shutdown or crash. If your laptop force restarts, Chrome should prompt you to restore your previous session when you open it again.
- Regularly Saved Sessions: Chrome frequently saves the current session state. If your tabs were closed by a crash or a force restart, the browser should recognize this and offer to restore them.
If you often encounter this issue, it might be helpful to use a session management extension like "Session Buddy" which saves your tabs and allows you to restore them easily.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
