In the middle of working the screen went black. I unplugged, let the battery run dead, turned it on with no response. I tried Winows CTRL ALT B and no response. It's a brick. So frustrated. I have work to be done and this has happened before but reboot worked in the past.

Hi @KINDREALTOR65,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear about the black screen issue with your HP Envy. It sounds frustrating, especially with work on the line. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve it.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if possible).
- Hold down the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Reconnect the charger (without the battery, if you removed it) and try turning it on.
External Monitor Test:
- Connect your HP Envy to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI cable. This can help determine if the issue is with the laptop's screen or the entire system.
- If the external display works, the laptop screen might be faulty.
Check for Signs of Power:
- If there are lights on the keyboard or the power button is showing signs of being powered on, it might just be a display issue.
- If the power LED is blinking or flashing, it could indicate a hardware problem that needs professional attention.
Try BIOS Recovery (if available):
- Press and hold the Windows Key + B on your keyboard while pressing the power button. Keep holding until you see the HP logo or hear a beep.
- If the BIOS recovery screen appears, follow on-screen instructions to reset or restore settings.
Keyboard Shortcut for Display:
- Press F4 or F2 (depending on your HP model) repeatedly after powering on to toggle the screen display or access BIOS.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
