I have tried nearly everything and nothing has worked or some options dealing with battery power are just not availible to me.

After 15 minutes - 60 minutes this laptop completely freezes and I'm forced to shut it off with the power button. The screen and keyboard stops working and the fans are loud until it freezes. Sometimes I will also get the windows crash screen with the stop code IRQL_N0t_LESS_OR_EQUAL.  I mainly use the Chrome browser but this issue continues even if I use Edge.

Things I have noticed:

  •  If I go on a image heavy site like Twitter or Tumblr the feed slows down and videos lag then the computer locks up
  • The longest I can go without a freeze is maybe an hour or two. Shortest is 15 minutes.

I have tried:

  • Unchecking "Screen-refresh" in the Driver opitions.
  • Setting battery to better performance. (For some reason I don't have 'Best Performance' in the power options just "Balanced'.
  • Installing BIOS from the HP support website
  • Checking and updating every driver that I thought could help
  • Going into extensive compontent and hardware tests.  Every test returned with no issues

I hate to have a bum computer because I have important work to do. This computer wold be perfect if it wasnt for this problem. I would apreciate any solution. Thank you.

Welcome to HP support community.

Run Windows Updates troubleshooter -

Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.

Now try to perform Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Downloading and run HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

If nothing works, then perform system reset:- Click here

Let me know if that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Thanks for responding. I followed your directions and the problem still persists. The only thing I haven't done yet is the system reset because I have some important files and programs that I want to keep. If this continues then I'll save my file sand go ahead with the system reset.

Yes, back up the data and then do the system reset and see if that resolves the issue.

Cheers.
