Hi @1Ocarsin_wil242,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Omen 16 laptop is showing a black screen with a cursor, it could be due to a number of different reasons. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check the power supply: Make sure that your laptop is properly plugged into a power source or has a charged battery. Sometimes a lack of power can cause the screen to appear black.
  • Check for display output: Connect an external monitor to your laptop to see if there is any output on the screen. If there is output on the external monitor, it may be an issue with the laptop's display.
  • Restart the laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can fix the problem. Hold down the power button until the laptop turns off, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Boot into safe mode: If the laptop boots into safe mode, it could indicate a software issue. Press and hold the Shift key while turning on the laptop to enter safe mode.
  • Check for driver updates: Outdated or incorrect display drivers can cause issues with the screen. Check for any available updates and install them.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
