I don’t know if I have to get a flash drive and fix it or what. It told me to put a reboot disk one time as well. Idk im lost could someone please help me. I rather try to fix it myself first instead of paying a technician to fix it.

Hi @Spriggs98,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP laptop is having issues booting up properly after being stuck on the Startup Menu screen. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

  1. Restart the Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off your laptop, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

  2. Check for External Devices: Ensure that there are no external devices (USB drives, external hard drives, etc.) connected to the laptop. Sometimes, these devices can cause boot issues.

  3. Boot into Safe Mode: If restarting doesn't work, try booting into Safe Mode. This will load a minimal set of drivers and may help identify and resolve the issue.

  4. System Restore: If your laptop has a System Restore point from a date when it was working fine, you can try restoring the system to that point. This can be done from the Advanced Startup Options.

    • Restart your laptop and press the F11 key repeatedly during the startup process to access the Advanced Startup Options.
    • Select "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "System Restore."
  5. Check Boot Order in BIOS: Ensure that the boot order in the BIOS is set correctly. Restart your laptop and press the key (usually Esc, F2, F10, or Del) to access the BIOS or UEFI settings. Check that the hard drive is set as the first boot option.

  6. Run Windows Automatic Repair: If your laptop is running Windows 10, you can try the Automatic Repair feature.

    • Restart your laptop and press the F11 key repeatedly during the startup process to access the Advanced Startup Options.
    • Select "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "Startup Repair."
  7. Create a Windows Installation Media: If none of the above steps work, you may need to create a Windows installation USB flash drive.

    • You can create a Windows 10 installation media using another computer. You can find instructions on the official Microsoft website.
  8. Perform a Repair Install: Use the Windows installation media to perform a repair install. This will reinstall Windows without losing your files and applications.

Remember to back up important data before attempting any major changes to your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
