Basically, my computer hasn't been working for awhile and I finally got it to turn on onto the login page where I normally put in my pin code. But it says that my pin is no longer available due to a change to the security settings. When I try to set up my pin, it takes my to a blue screen that says The User Profile Service service failed the sign in. I tried using my password, but that wouldn't work either. I've tried doing a full factory reset, but it still doesn't work. And the option to log out ain't there. When I try to click the "I forgot my password" button, it takes me to the same blue screen saying the User Profile Service failed to login. please help

Hi @Emma_Ellis,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering a frustrating issue with your HP computer where you're unable to log in using either your PIN or password. The "User Profile Service service failed the sign in" error typically indicates a problem with the user profile on your computer. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue.

Restart Your Computer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off your computer completely, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Try Safe Mode: Boot your computer into Safe Mode. This can help diagnose whether the issue is related to third-party software or drivers. Here’s how you can access Safe Mode:

  • Turn on your computer and immediately start pressing the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu.
  • Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" and press Enter.

Use a Different Account (if possible): If you have another user account with administrative privileges, try logging in with that account to see if the issue is specific to your account or a system-wide problem.

Use a Password Reset Disk: If you have previously created a password reset disk, you can use it to reset your password. This is typically a USB drive or CD/DVD that you set up before encountering login issues.

System Restore: If you have a system restore point created before the issue started, you can revert your system to that point. This can often fix problems related to system settings and configurations.

Repair Windows: If none of the above solutions work, you might need to repair Windows using the installation media (USB or DVD). This process will attempt to fix any corrupted system files that could be causing the login issue.

Remember to back up your important files whenever possible, especially before attempting more advanced troubleshooting steps like system restores or repairs.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for replying to my post, but unfortunately none of the solutions have worked. I've reset my computer more times than I could count and I am unable to log out at all. Also, I think I failed to mention that the computer is only the monitor and does not include a console box (I forgot the name of it) so I can't use disks. I think I'm just going to have to give up hope on it. Thank you for your help anyways.
