@Emily128371617,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

Have you recently made any software or hardware changes on the PC before the issue started?

Did you try to run any test on the computer from F2?

Let's try these steps here:

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
  • Power ON the laptop.
  • If the issue persists then let us run a extensive system test as well as a test on the drive from F2:
  • Power off the laptop.
  • Turn on the laptop and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

  • For the Main Menu click on System Test and run an extensive test.

  • For the Hard drive test. On the main menu, click Component Tests.

  • The Component Tests menu displays. Your Component Tests menu might be different, depending on the components installed on your computer.

  • Please initiate a Hard Drive/Storage Test.

If the hard drive test passes then please perform a Microsoft System Restore to rollback the laptop to an earlier date when everything worked fine. This will not delete your data. You may refer to "Restore your computer when Windows cannot start normally" from this HP document.

In case the Microsoft System Restore fails then please initiate a system recovery either using the partition available on the PC or from the recovery media.

If you haven't created one, I would suggest you could try to use HP Cloud Recovery Tool which allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive.

If this option does not work then you can follow this link: HP PCs - Obtaining PC Recovery USB Drives or Discs Or else you may contact our HP support team to help you order a set of recovery media for your PC.
