HP Notebook - 15-r132wm (ENERGY STAR)

I put my laptop in my bag. It was shut down before I put it in. When I removed it, it was warm/hot, particularly in the upper right corner by the cooling vent.  It will not start now. Is there anything I can do?

A known problem with more modern laptops is that they are not completely powered off when you shut them down; instead, they go into a hybrid sleep state which means they are still running, drawing power, and getting warm -- as a result.

In most cases, letting them cool down works OK, but if they will still not start  up, to the degree that no screen indication comes on, that  generally means the processor has overheated and burnt out.

These are not replaceable items in the newer laptops, so that renders them "dead".

To further complicate matters, newer laptops are sealed "slabs" -- making removing the internal drive to recover any files difficult if not impossible.

And finally, since this is due to "customer action" (like dropping it or getting it wet), any warranty coverage would be excluded.

If this was mine, and I had anything on it I was willing to pay a LOT to retrieve, I would take it to a local laptop repair facility to see what they would do and how much they would charge for it.
