@Kupukka, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Let’s try to get this sorted out together. Sudden shutdowns can be caused by a few different things, so we’ll walk through them step-by-step.

First Things First — Quick Checks:

  1. Was the laptop hot to the touch?
    • If yes, it might have overheated and powered off to protect itself. Let it cool down for 10–15 minutes before trying to turn it on again.
  2. Plug in the charger.
    • Make sure your charger is working and securely connected.
    • Look for any signs of life: lights, fan spinning, keyboard backlight, etc.
  3. Hold the power button for 10–15 seconds, then press it again.
    • This forces a power reset. Try this even if nothing seems to happen at first.

If It Turns On, Do This Next:

  1. Check Event Viewer (Windows):
    • Press Win + X → choose Event Viewer → look under System logs for anything marked “Critical” or “Kernel-Power”.
  2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:
    • Restart the laptop and press F2 repeatedly until the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics screen appears.
    • Run the System Test or at least the Memory and Hard Drive tests.
  3. Check Thermals and Fan Speeds:
    • Use software like HWMonitor or Core Temp to check if your CPU/GPU is running too hot.
    • If temps are often above 85°C, it may need cleaning or repasting.

If It Doesn't Turn On at All:

  1. Try a Hard Reset:
    • Disconnect everything (power, peripherals, USB, etc.).
    • Hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
    • Plug in only the charger and try again.
  2. Check Power LED or Charging Light:
    • If there’s no light, the charger or motherboard might be faulty.
    • Try a different charger if available.
  3. Listen for Beeps or See Blinking Lights:
    • HP laptops sometimes use these to signal errors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
