Hi @Packster,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

This issue sounds like your HP laptop is stuck on the login screen and can't proceed due to a lack of internet connectivity. Here’s how you can troubleshoot.

Restart Your Laptop

  • Hold the power button until the laptop turns off.
  • Wait a few seconds, then power it back on.

Check Internet Connection

  • If you're using WiFi:
    • Look for a WiFi icon on the login screen.
    • If it's visible, click it and connect to your WiFi network.
    • Enter the WiFi password if prompted.
  • If no WiFi option appears, try using an Ethernet cable to connect your laptop directly to your router.

Use a Local Account

If your laptop is stuck because of a Microsoft account, you can switch to a local account:

  1. Restart in Safe Mode:
    • Turn the laptop off, then back on.
    • As soon as it starts booting, press the F8 key repeatedly to access the Advanced Boot Options.
    • Select Safe Mode with Networking.
  2. Once in Safe Mode, log in using your local credentials.

Perform a Network Reset

If you can’t connect to WiFi:

  • Restart the laptop and enter the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE):
    • Turn the laptop on and off three times during boot-up to trigger WinRE.
    • Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt.
  • Type the following commands:

netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset

  • Restart your laptop.

Reset Your Laptop

If all else fails:

  • Boot into WinRE by turning it on and off three times during startup.
  • Navigate to Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  • Choose Keep my files to reset without losing personal data.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
