Just purchased a 'HP OmniBook 7 Aero 13.3 inch Next Gen AI 13-bg1005AU'.
On POST (Power On Self Test) I get a bios message
-the system requires a restart to perform a complete memory training. The computer will take longer to power on'
- press ENTER - Agree and restart the computer
- press ESC - discard and postpone to the next restart'
What is this???? I have to TRAIN the memory????
I always press ESC. I have already setup Win 11 on the laptop.
HOW do I get rid of this message? Do ALL new laptops/desktops come with this message?

Hi @Ozzie_Pat,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding memory training on the HP OmniBook 7 Aero!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
The message you're seeing during the Power On Self Test (POST) is related to "memory training," a process that is typically automatic and is often part of the initial setup when hardware changes occur, or when the system requires an optimal configuration for memory modules.
What is Memory Training?
Memory training refers to the process where the system's BIOS or firmware configures the memory settings to ensure stable and optimal operation. This can include adjusting timing, voltage, and other parameters to fit the installed memory modules. It is a standard procedure for ensuring that your RAM operates correctly with the system's specifications.
Steps to Follow:
Press ENTER to Agree and Restart:
- By pressing ENTER, you allow the system to perform a complete memory training. This process might make your computer take a bit longer to start up just once, but it helps ensure that the memory is configured properly.
Press ESC to Discard and Postpone:
- Choose this option if you want to bypass the current configuration process. However, this means the memory training needs to be completed during another startup, which could affect system stability or performance until completed.
Recommendation:
- For Best Performance:
- It is recommended to press ENTER and allow memory training to ensure your RAM is fully optimized for operation with your HP OmniBook 7 Aero. This is generally a one-time process following a hardware setup or change.
I hope this helps.
