As far as i can see its impossible to boot from a usb stick when theres no legacy option in the bios. It doesnt detect the stick but it works on my other newish laptops and pcs because they support the legacy option. The HP bios is very limited on this model, So even if i remove the ecmm card and put a new card in i still wont be able to boot to it. Is this HPS way of making people either throw there laptops away or be forced to take them back so you can perform a re image service back on to the card? Dell are also using this new type of firmware UEFI only. Good when its working but when your operating systems broke and you cant repair your screwed. Id appreciate it if you can be bothered to read the post dont advise me to enable Legacy mode in the bios i havent got it. Secure boot has also been disabled there s ageneric option for usb from key/ Usb Hdd but my brand of stick isnt detected when i select boot options. Ive also tried numerous sticks too still nothing. So looks like the bin for this . not even 3 years old either.

Yes, you can do that and you get prompted to install Windows and the installation begins and then it stops after passing all 5 steps ( Copying Windows Files = Pass , Getting files ready for installation = Pass , Installing features = Pass , Installing updates = Pass , Getting Finished = Pass ).
The message displayed soon after all above has passed is: WINDOWS COULD NOT PREPARE THE COMPUTER TO BOOT INTO THE NEXT PHASE OF INSTALLATION. TO INSTALL WINDOWS RESTART THE INSTALLATION.
