HP 14-cf2000 Laptop PC (552L9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I turned on my laptop it booted up the screen came on. The Caps light was blinking so I learned how to count the blinks. I the screen stopped displaying and turned black. I followed the directions on a hard boot. Them I powered it up again. The screen came on then after a few went black. I can't get the power to turn on now. I tried praying f-11 and F1 but when the screen came on there was a message error code 0xc0000225. It said device is not connected or can't be accessed. The LED BLINKS 5 long flashes, then 3 short. blinks.  What does this mean?

Hi @Whyxxxdg, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The 5 long flashes and 3 short blinks on your HP 14-cf2000 Laptop PC indicate a system board failure (Embedded Controller - EC error). This typically means there is an issue with the motherboard or firmware.

Steps to Troubleshoot:

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the charger.
  • Hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the charger and try powering it on.

Check RAM and Reseat It

  • If comfortable, remove the back panel and reseat the RAM module (take it out and insert it back).
  • If you have two RAM sticks, try using one at a time.

Perform a BIOS Recovery

  • Hold Win + B while pressing the power button for 5-10 seconds.
  • If the BIOS recovery screen appears, follow the prompts.

Check for Disk Issues

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
