HP 15-f033wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have Windows 10 installed on the notebook, and with the end coming and not being able to upgrade to Windows 11 I recently installed Linux Mint on the hard drive and set bios to ask which OS to boot.  It was working fine until I booted windows recently to check some files and see about copying them to the Linux partition.  I wasn’t on Windows long, just browsing my files.  When I finished, I powered the computer down without restarting to Linux.

the next time I hit the power button, the f12 and caps lock blink once…the f12 button blinks about once every few seconds.  No fan, black screen….nothing.

I checked the power supply with my multimeter.  It has output of right at 20vdc.  I tried it with just battery and the battery has charge to it.

I tried it without battery, and just ac adapter…same thing.  I’ve tried the windows + b windows +v as well as holdi n the escape button, as I’ve seen on some of the posts for my model which is 15-f033wm.

I’m pretty sure at this point that windows did something to the boot sequence which now has the bios locked up or corrupted because of the two OS’s.

I’ve gotten to the I'm ready to pull my hair out.  Any help or suggestions would be awesome.  I have no way of making a bios recovery/reset usb.  I contemplated downloading the file to my iPhone and seeing if I could plug that into the notebook to see if the file would boot it.  I have tried putting in the usb, which has the Linux installation/boot files on it, but the usb doesn’t light or flash.  The computer does nothing…I have a lot of files on that hard drive I don’t want to lose, and I can’t afford to buy another computer, or pay a service fee to get help.  So, I’m here, begging for help from anyone who may be able to give me a magic solution or guidance.  I have even unplugged and took the battery out and left it for a few days, hoping it doesn’t have a cmos battery and would completely reset the cpu/bios.

now I'm here, basically on my knees, praying, begging for a solution to unlock my notebook, up to and including taking it apart and removing cpu, to reset the **bleep** thing(pardon my language).  Believe me, I’ve used some words over this I didn’t even know I knew.  So, please please please…can someone help me?

UPDATE:  My particular motherboard has an RTC battery.  Today I have taken the laptop apart, removed RTC battery, and left it out for 20-30 min, so all power was removed from the system.  I reinserted the RTC battery and put the computer back together.  A tense time for me, as I have always left work like that to a friend who is a computer geek, but unfortunately she is 2000 miles away these days.

I was proud of myself that everything went back together correctly, and I had no screws or parts left over.

plugged AC cord back in it.  I hit the power button and it did the exact same thing.  So, now I’m totally out of ideas.  I’m at a total loss, so anyone and I do mean ANYONE can offer insight, please do so.  Thank you in advance
